Why We Love Them

When women succeed, the world becomes a better place. Their goal is to take the work out of getting dressed, so that you can focus on the work that matters to you. Enter M.M.LaFleur; comfortable, chic clothes that you can effortlessly slip on to better show up for your day, no matter where it takes you. Whether you’re working from home or have frenzied mornings scrambling to get to the office, these functional, flattering pieces feel good on and look even better. From structured blazers and trench coats to polished pants, practicality — including completely machine-washable looks — is inherent in this brand’s styles.

Origin Story

Founder and CEO, Sarah LaFleur, was inspired by the lack of women’s workwear options available during her years as a management consultant. Her desire to show up in something other than stiff slacks and an intolerable jacket led her to team up with Miyako Nakamura, former head designer of Zac Posen, and Narie Foster to launch M.M.LaFleur in 2011. Their mission was simple: create pieces women wanted to wear, that were classic yet trendy, that were comfortable enough to take some of the pressure off during big meetings and inevitably, to give them more time in other areas of their day.

The TL;DR

  • Science-backed designs with functional details and comfortable, long-lasting materials
  • Comfortable clothes with a polished, professional aesthetic
  • Community focused, from virtual conversations to one-on-one online stylist assistance
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

The Science & The Soul

The Science

M.M.LaFleur’s high-quality pieces all pass the tests of intuitive design, boasting functional details, comfortable silhouettes, long-lasting materials, and uber-chic style. When Miyako Nakamura formed her design team, she coined these four main focuses which would be represented in each and every piece of clothing.

From entirely machine-washable outfits and hidden buttons that prevent gapping in button-down tops; to stretchy waistbands in your tailored pants and adjustable hems for women of varying heights (and let’s be real, so that you can wear a wider variety of shoes with your pants), no detail is left unturned. All sweaters, t-shirts, skirts, dresses, suits, shoes, jewelry and accessories are expertly crafted to take one less worry out of your already busy day.

The Soul

Making your work-attire journey seamless from start to finish is engrained in the M.M.LaFleur mission. With size-inclusive styles from petite- and tall-friendly to plus size garments, there are suit-able solutions for everyone, pun intended. If you’re not sure where to begin on your fashion-forward journey, their team offers virtual appointments where you’re linked up one-on-one with a stylist, or you can engage in an online chat session to suss out your wardrobe needs.

Beyond the closet, their digital community and magazine The M Dash offers rich content on everything from style advice and career tips to interviews with inspirational women. Empowering women through clothing, conversation and community, M.M.LaFleur’s commitment extends even further through their partnership program.
