Origin Story

After a terrible motorcycle accident in 2007 left Dr. Jason Wersland with a herniated disc and back pain, he turned to percussive massage therapy to manage his pain. Floored by the positive results of consistent percussive therapy, Dr. Wersland knew more people could greatly benefit for this therapy at home and decided to bring percussive therapy to the masses. Of course, there was one little catch…he had to totally invent the product. And so he did. Dr. Wersland started out by offering his technology to professional athletes around the world, but by 2013, Theragun began to trickle into the mainstream consumer market. Consumers were astonished to discover the benefits of percussive massage therapy including easing muscle pain and relieving stress. Theragun created other recovery products like percussive foam rollers and a CBD line that they launched in May 2020 for full relief and recovery. After rebranding from Theragun to Therabody, the brand is a leader in tech wellness and have made strategic acquisitions of other wellness companies like PowerDot, the world’s first Smart Muscle Stimulator™.

Theragun, Therabody’s first product, is a handheld percussive massage device that is powered by QuietForce Technology to provide an unrivaled muscle recovery experience.
