PlantPeople CBD Oil Review: Do They Actually Work?

If you’ve been wanting to take a dip into the CBD oil pool, now is a great time to jump in. PlantPeople creates some fantastically high-quality CBD products.

As someone who has heard plenty about CBD oil, and tried a few different brands previously, I was curious when I heard about PlantPeople. Therefore, I decided to try two of their CBD oils to see how they performed to others I’ve tried in the past.

I initially wanted to try the PlantPeople Drops+ Mind + Body product to help with everyday stress and relaxation. I went with the standard dosage of 630mg or 21mg per serving.

The brand recommends a dosage of 1 dropper full (1 mL), held under the tongue for at least 30 seconds. As much as I tried to get a full dropper full, I was not ever able to get more than .75 mL. I experimented with this product for almost a full 2 weeks.

The first day I took this CBD, I noticed that I felt a bit calmer throughout my normal crazy day. And every day since then, I’ve felt a little more balanced with my initial responses to stress. I have thoroughly enjoyed the results of taking this product and will continue to do so. 

My only personal complaint is the flavor. I am not a huge fan of the strong, green, plantlike aftertaste and would prefer to have something else mixed with it to balance it out. Adding citrus essential oil to the solution would solve the problem.

When it came to the next product, the PlantPeople Drops+ Sleep CBD oil, I had my spouse test this one out. I don’t currently have any sleep issues, but she does.

On evenings when my spouse forgets to take her Ashwagandha and Grapefruit Seed extract to help regulate his cortisol, it can be difficult to sleep with him. So, I was excited to see how this particular CBD affected him. We decided to go with the lowest dosage they offered of 750mg or 24mg per serving.

She said that he actually didn’t mind the flavor of the CBD at all. In fact, she said that it tasted clean and a little citrusy. But she could taste the hemp seed oil, which she wasn’t as big of a fan of.

The first night he took it he said he felt an immediate difference. And I can tell you that he didn’t wake me up once during the night by tossing and turning. He’s been taking it every night for 2 weeks, sans the 1 night he forgot. And I could tell!

He was waking me up intermittently all night long. I asked him in the morning if he had taken the CBD and he admitted that he’d forgotten. Due to that, he hasn’t forgotten again, thankfully. Overall, we both have loved the experience with PlantPeople CBD and plan to continue using them regularly.

Differing CBD Experience

While we love the effects we’ve felt from the PlantPeople CBD so far, we did have another product tester who did not get the same results.

This product tester also did not have sleep issues, like myself. He also went with the lowest dosage they offered of 750mg or 24mg per serving. His thought process was that the lower the dose, the less potentially harmful effect it could have.

He was planning to try it for 5 nights to see if he noticed any difference but ended up having to terminate the experiment after 3 nights. The first night he took the full dropper, as per the instructions, and was awake for 3 hours. The second night he only took a half dropper-full and fell asleep pretty easily. The third night he took another half dropper-full and slept poorly like the first night.

He said the product did make him feel more relaxed prior to going to bed. However, it kept his brain stimulated, which caused him to not sleep well when taking it.

While this is not the typical effect that CBD oil has on most people, every person’s endocannabinoid system is a bit different. Similar to our gut microbiome, if you will. The processes and procedures are all the same, but each person is a bit unique. 

It is also possible that the dosage or concentration he took was too low. There have been very few studies regarding CBD dosage to date, but there has been some evidence in studies that the lower the CBD concentration, the more it could possibly have the opposite effect on some people.

And since this particular product tester doesn’t generally have sleep issues, to begin with, this could have been the problem. So, it is possible that if he tried the higher concentration CBD and increased the dosage, it might have the intended effect. 

The other issue may simply be that he didn’t take it long enough to begin to get any positive effects from it.

PlantPeople is one of the few companies I’ve heard of that uses all organic hemp from the United States. The farmers who grow the hemp they use all follow the Colorado Department of Agriculture’s industrial hemp program rules and regulations to stay in compliance.

While I really like this about their CBD products, nowhere do they state where their products are actually manufactured. They do have independent lab tests available on their website for each product though, which I do like. However, I’d like to know more about where the CBD is manufactured and what certifications, if any, these manufacturing plants have. Because that is an important part of creating a quality product.

Luckily, PlantPeople does happen to have a few different certifications to help bolster the purported quality of their products, so this helps to ease my mind a bit. These certifications include:

• CGMP Standard Certification
• Certified USDA Organic
• B Corporation Certified
• Climate Neutral Certified
• BBB Accredited Business

The brand also has quite a few stamps on their website to assist with easing the consumer’s mind. These include:

• Gluten-free
• Vegan
• Keto-friendly
• Non-GMO
• Lab-tested
• Dr. Formulated

While these are great, none of these have the certifications that go with them, which gives me more pause. It could just be that the certifications take time and money and they just haven’t gotten around to it yet. But I’d like to see a company that has the certifications to back these stamps up if they really want to earn my trust. 

On the upside, they do have an infographic on their site showing where they source most of their main ingredients. I like this a lot, but I’d like to know more as to whether the sources they get the ingredients from have any ethical, fair trade, or quality certificates. 

Ultimately, even with some transparency still lacking, it appears the company is producing a high-quality product. 

If you haven’t tried CBD oil before, PlantPeople may potentially be a good place to start. It’s reassuring that their products are 3rd party lab tested for quality and consistency. This should be an important factor for anyone considering CBD for the first time.

While the taste isn’t that pleasant to me, the effects we’ve received from their products have been fantastic so far. However, if you are like our other product tester and aren’t getting fairly immediate results, you may not be dosing properly, I would suggest reaching out to the PlantPeople customer service department to get more information. 

Overall, the price point for their products is really good compared to other CBD products. And the fact that they have a free returns window doesn’t hurt either. So, I think it’s worth giving them a try if you’re wanting to dip your toes into the CBD oil world.
