Vuori Jogger Review: Posh & Ethical Athleisure Wear

Whether you’re in the market for more posh athleisure wear or more concerned with how ethical and sustainable your products are, Vuori has your back.

As someone who loves to engage in a myriad of activities, I’m always looking for clothes that can fit my lifestyle but also look fabulous at the same time.

Upon searching their website for the best option for me, I found it smooth and seamless to operate. The ordering process was simple, straightforward, and I even got free shipping. I feel the product arrived pretty quickly after I placed the order, which I was surprised by since they tend to have longer shipping times. But that could be due to the fact that I am in Arizona, which is close to their shipping facility in southern California.

Upon arrival I noticed that they had minimal packaging and even made the Performance Joggers I ordered as small as possible to decrease the amount of shipping material needed. I really liked this aspect about the company right off the bat. It made it seem to me that they were really concerned with their carbon footprint, and that’s in line with my values.

First Impressions

I ordered a size small, since that seemed to be in line with what their sizing chart told me. 

And they were pretty darn spot on. The size feels true to size. They were easy to put on and comfortably tight at the bottom of the pants, like this style should be. 

The stitching appeared to be tight and consistent, which boosted my confidence in the manufacturing.

I found the attention to detail with this brand really inspiring compared to other brands I’ve used in the past. An example of this extra attention to detail was the ties on my joggers. They were made with a different color for a bit of added variation and the metal tie caps just topped the look off nicely.

Upon putting them on for the first time, I noticed how soft and smooth they felt.

After washing them a few times, they still don’t show any signs of pilling, like my other joggers from different companies have. They also didn’t wrinkle when washed, which was something I was very happy to see. They are the softest joggers I have ever worn and even in the summer heat in Phoenix, AZ I was comfortable wearing them. For me they felt like they were quick-drying.

Athletic Testing

I originally chose these joggers for more loungewear. Which was the first thing I did in them. They performed above and beyond in this category. So, I decided to put them through some other tests just to see how they would do in more active settings. These joggers were comfortable to be in all day.

I practiced gentle yoga, played basketball, did some climbing wall activities, took walks, and even went to the hospital as a caretaker for a family member with them. I wore them all day long as my number one choice and by the end of the day they didn’t even smell. This was definitely more than I expected from a pair of joggers. 

They exceeded my expectations and Vuori is now my first go-to for joggers. The product design, fit, feel, and functionality is fantastic. They look good enough that even when I wear them for lounging I don’t feel like I look crappy. These joggers just make me feel better when I put them on and I love how I look in them. These are the joggers I have been looking for.

Vuori’s athleisure wear apparel certainly seems high quality to me. The fact that their clothing is made with sustainable materials using sustainable practices leads me to believe that their products are meant to last. According to the Vuori brand, they have been able to make 50% of their products out of high quality sustainable materials, but they plan to boost that to 80% in 2022.

The sustainable materials they are currently using in these products are:

• ECONYL – nylon made from recycled fishing nets and other nylon waste
• REPREVE – polyester made from recycled plastic bottles
• Organic Cotton – grown in clean healthy soil

In order to certify the materials they are using, they have also partnered with a few different certifying bodies. These currently include:

• Bluesign – a system used to create more sustainable textile production and a healthy work environment for those textile workers.
• California Prop 65 – this proposition protects California’s drinking water from becoming contaminated with materials known to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive issues.
• Oeko-Tex – a quality standard which enables companies and consumers to make more responsible decisions to protect the planet. 
• Unifi & U Trust Recycle Verification – a quality and verification program for companies using the REPREVE product to ensure the transparency of the product.

I like seeing companies that use multiple certifying bodies to confirm the quality of the raw materials they are using. This is a great step towards full transparency, which is important when building consumer confidence.

However, they don’t give us quite as much information regarding their manufacturing plants. They do tell us that they manufacture in Asia, Canada, and South America and that their plants follow ethical practices. The brand does state that all partnerships must follow their ethical code of conduct, however. Which is a start, but I’d like to see more about the exact plants they are using and the most recent reports from each showing this fact.

On another positive note, though, Vuori has also partnered with Climate Neutral to offset their carbon emissions by funding projects that combat global warming. With this partnership, they have achieved a fully carbon neutral status, which is pretty awesome.

Another fantastic way Vuori has been positively impacting the environment with their products is by working hard to become plastic neutral. They plan to get plastics removed from their packaging and supply chain by 80% in 2022. How they plan to achieve this is by partnering with Cleanhub and Renewal Workshop. Both companies can help them by either recycling or repurposing plastic products.

By implementing all of these sustainable practices, Vuori is intent on creating a high quality end product. 

When you have a high quality end product, you get a much longer lifespan. And with a longer product lifespan, your initial cost becomes reduced due to the extended longevity. A great example of this would be the Performance Joggers I purchased for $84. While the price tag seems a bit steep to most, if they last me 10 years at a minimum, then I’m only spending $8.40 per year for them.

Whereas a pair of joggers I have from another brand cost me $39 but only lasted 2 years, at best. That breaks down to $19.50 per year, which is much more than what I spent on my Vuori joggers. So when it comes down to cost, how long something is going to last is extremely important to the bottom line.

Plus, the Vuori apparel products just feel and look nicer. So, I’m more than willing to pay more money for products that are better made, feel better, look better, and last longer.

Vuori products are definitely on the pricier side of things. But, they do offer an initial 20% discount just by signing up for their email list. And once you do, you can expect to see other deals and discounts every so often on specific products.
